I was on ancestry.com last nite and found a source of information that has the
following:
Phillipp Edwardd, chapter: names, Section: F, Page 312.
The Commissioned Sea Officers Of The Royal Navy, 1660-1815, Volume 1.
Philipp Edwardd was the exact spelling of his name when he asked to be admitted as
a inhabitant of Dorchester, Mass in 1662, just before he was drowned at The Castle in
1664. The next year Captain Davenport was struck by lightening and died. I wonder if
Captain Davenport had a journal and recorded any information. Captain Clapp found
him drowned.
Can you guys go and look and see if you can find the following:

1.Look in the book "The Commissioned Sea Officers Of The Royal Navy, 1660-1815,
Volume 1, Page 312, Section F..(I checked this book on ancestry and this is for the F
entries.. I tried the E entries and can't find him, but I think if you can check the book
he may be in there)..
Also check the back of volumes 2-3 and see if you see a index as well as volume one.
.Ancestry has the wrong information..

2. Check to see if Captain Davenport wrote a journal or kept a entry on the event..
I have Philipp Edwards record of adminstration papers and nothing is noted there who
his family was.
3. Nancy, I already have most of what you sent down.. We gotta think outside of the
box on this one.. It is quite possible two things are occurring here:
a. He came from barbadoes
b. he had other sibs..
That's all for now. Let me know if you can do this.. also. may not hurt to go to the
Ancient and Honorable Artillary building I think in boston or dorchester and ask them if
they have any info on him..
Let me know if I owe you anything for copies etc if you find anything..
I've been looking since 1978 for abiah's father and there he sits..
Thank you very much, warmest regards, Karen

In a posting to listsearches.rootsweb.com, for radnorshire, she speculates that Philipp
is the son of Obadiah Edwards, who lived in Barbadoes as capt of a company in the
Regiment of Col. Fortescue, and who died prob 1653/4, and that Obadiah's father was
Phillip ap Edward of parish Llandwy Ystradenny, Radnorshire whose will was proved in
1655.
at 66.43.27.42/the/read/POWYS/2006-07/1151763467 Karen Wofford says she
thinks that Obadiah Edwards (father of this Philipp) was the son of Edward ap Phillip.
